Why we’ve updated our fees — and what it means for your care
Southampton Physio has updated its session fees with effect from 1st May 2026. The changes apply across standard physiotherapy sessions, Clinical Personal Training blocks, and neurological physiotherapy. This post sets out what has changed, why, and what patients can expect going forward.
Nobody enjoys announcing a price increase. I don’t imagine you particularly enjoy reading about one either. So I’ll keep this direct: some of our fees have gone up, there are good reasons for it, and I’d rather explain them honestly than dress it up in corporate language.
What’s changed from 1st May 2026
Standard physiotherapy sessions
| Session type | Current fee | From 1st May 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Senior appointment | £75 | £85 |
| Junior appointment | £65 | £70 |
Neurological physiotherapy
Previously billed at two rates depending on clinician grade (£95 / £85), neurophysiotherapy sessions move to a single rate of £90. This simplifies the structure and, for patients previously on the higher rate, represents a small reduction.
| Block | Duration | Junior | Senior |
|---|---|---|---|
| Block of 4 | 60 min | 80/session | £95/session |
| Block of 4 | 45 min | £65/session | £75/session |
| Block of 12 | 60 min | £75/session | £90/session |
| Block of 12 | 45 min | £60/session | £70/session |
Sports massage — no change.
Sports massage fees are unchanged: £50 for 30 minutes, £65 for 45 minutes.
Our full fee schedule is on the pricing page if you want everything in one place.
Why the fees have changed
Over the past 12 months, we have invested significantly in the clinic. We moved to a new, larger space. We brought in equipment that not every clinic has — dynamometry testing, shockwave therapy, and a properly equipped rehabilitation gym. We grew the team, bringing in more experienced clinicians across physiotherapy, sports therapy, and osteopathy. And we protected more time for clinical supervision and ongoing professional development.
That last one is unglamorous to talk about, but it matters. A clinician who has protected time to stay current in their field — to read, learn, and be challenged by colleagues — is a better clinician in your session. That does not happen on its own, and it does not happen for free.
Good people, good equipment, and good facilities all cost money. We are not trying to be the cheapest option in Southampton. We are trying to be the most effective, most honest one. We would rather tell you that plainly than pretend we can deliver high-quality care on legacy pricing.
What hasn’t changed
Clinical decisions are made on clinical grounds. That is unchanged, and it will stay that way. We do not recommend treatments to fill slots or to pad the bill. If you need one session, that is what you will get. If you need six, we will explain clearly why. You see us exactly as much as you need — no more, no less.
We also know that spending money on healthcare is a real consideration right now, and we take that seriously. If you are working through a course of sessions or managing something longer term, we will always have an open conversation about a schedule that fits — in terms of timing, spacing, and frequency. We will not cut corners on the quality of care, but we will meet you where you are.
The care is the same. The commitment to giving you a straight answer about what is going on, what is going to help, and when you are done with us, is unchanged. If you are not yet sure whether physiotherapy is the right next step for you, our FAQs page covers the most common questions about what to expect, who we work with, and how to get started.
Frequently asked questions
Why have Southampton Physio’s fees increased?
We have made significant investments in the clinic over the past year — new premises, new equipment, and a larger, more experienced team. Attracting and retaining skilled clinicians, protecting time for their ongoing development, and keeping our facilities at the standard they need to be all cost money. Our fees have to reflect the real cost of delivering that care honestly. We would rather be transparent about that than quietly reduce quality somewhere you cannot see.
Are you more expensive than other clinics in Southampton?
Some clinics charge less, yes. Our fees reflect the expertise in the room, the time you get in each session, and the clinical infrastructure behind it. If you are looking purely for the lowest price, we are probably not the right fit. If you are looking for honest, thorough, outcome-focused care from a team who will tell you straight what is going on and what will actually help, we think we are worth it.
What if I’m part-way through a course of treatment or a CPT block?
Your clinician will be in touch directly ahead of May. If you have any questions about how the change affects your plan or your block pricing, just ask — by email, by phone, or at your next session. We are not a call-centre operation. You will get a direct answer from someone who knows your case.
What does a physiotherapy session at Southampton Physio actually include?
Every session is one-to-one with a regulated clinician. You get a proper assessment, a clear explanation of what is driving your symptoms, hands-on treatment where appropriate, and a plan that gives you something to work with between sessions. We do not run patients on a conveyor belt. The time you book is the time you get.
If you would like to talk through what a session involves before booking, we are always happy to help. Reach us at team@southampton-physio.co.uk or book a consultation at our Bedford Place clinic.
