Most physiotherapy consultations and treatment plans will include it, and rehab exercises will often be recommended alongside sports massage treatments.

We also offer standalone exercise rehabilitation sessions in the dedicated gym space at the Boulder Shack Climbing Gym in Southampton.

These sessions are perfect to help you recover from injury, sports-related or not, and come back stronger, fitter, and more mobile.

As mentioned above, exercise rehab is an integral part of our physiotherapy treatments at Southampton Physio.. If you are dealing with an acute or chronic injury and don’t have a diagnosis, you should book a physiotherapy appointment first to get one.

Injury Rehabilitation Or Sports Massage?

All forms of massage are great for immediate pain relief, short-term improvement in tension, and range of movement. This makes it great for symptom management in the early phase of injury recovery and managing flare-ups of chronic pain conditions.

Exercise rehabilitation is the best long-term strategy for recovering and preventing injuries. If you find your recovery stalling or you keep re-injuring the same area then this service could be for you. 

What to expect

Your first session will involve a discussion of your goals, your injury, and what you have tried so far.

From there we will perform an assessment to see what you can and can’t do. This gives us a baseline to work from and guides future sessions.

You will be given a tailored plan of exercises, some to be performed together under supervision, and some to be completed at home.

We will work together for a set amount of time to achieve the goals set out at the start.
